Belén Salvador's passion for football was evident at the age of 6 when she started carrying a ball to school to play during recess. At that time, she practiced hockey and convinced her mother to register her in football. In her first training session, "she played a little bit" with Miriam Mayorga, the midfielder from Bariloche who played for Boca Juniors and was part of the Argentina women's national team, who visited the city. She was impressed. In February of this year, this midfielder was selected by Vélez Sarsfield to join the reserve team. Her family supported her decision and agreed to let the girl settle in Buenos Aires. "From the very beginning, we saw that she had a lot of potential for football. She's a cannonball. She was small and despite playing with bigger girls, when she entered, she wanted to eat the whole field. But at the same time, she always understood that it's a team game", defined her mother, Anahí Quesada, proudly. Since March, Belén's routine begins at 5:30: training starts at 7 until 11:30. And after lunch, she trains again at the Olympic Village of the club in the province of Buenos Aires, until 6 pm. Weeks ago, Belén joined the Río Negro team that won the Epade Games, a regional competition for young athletes from Patagonia. The final was played against Neuquén and in that match, the barilochense scored the goal that allowed them to win. "It was a pleasure to represent my province's colors. Plus, I got to play with my best friend Lina Delgado and Chula, who plays for Cruz del Sur. They're my everything. I enjoyed playing the Epade final and scoring the winning goal a lot and I'm super happy", concluded Belén, who is now preparing for her next challenge: today and tomorrow, she will start training with the national team at the Lionel Messi stadium in Ezeiza.
